If you are organising a conference, a corporate party, a product launch or a private celebration in Istanbul, the photographer is one of the first suppliers you will need to book. This guide explains how professional event photographers usually structure their prices, what is included, and what to check before you confirm.
Hourly Rates
For professional event photographers in Istanbul, an hourly rate is standard. Prices vary from at least $100 to $500 per hour, depending on the photographer’s experience, the type of event and the amount of work involved after the event.
Minimum Hours
Many photographers require a minimum number of hours for a session. If the event is shorter than that limit, the client may still pay for the minimum. The reason is simple: an event takes far more of the photographer’s day than the time spent on site, and a minimum ensures they are not taking an event job for only $200. It also encourages clients to book a little more coverage, which usually results in a more complete set of images.
Longer bookings often have a lower hourly rate. For example, a photographer might charge $150 per hour if the event is less than five hours, but offer a lower rate of $120 per hour for five hours or more.
What Affects the Price
Hourly rates also depend on the location and type of event. Other fees may be added for special requests, for instance a studio-style headshot corner set up at the event. Things that commonly change the quote include:
- The length of the event and whether it runs over several days
- Travel time and transport to the venue
- Whether a second photographer or an assistant is needed
- Extra lighting or a portable studio for portraits
- Same-day or next-morning delivery of selected images for press or social media
- How the images will be used, for example internal communication only or advertising
What Is Included
The number of images included in the hourly rate varies. Some event photographers deliver all of their best pictures as part of the rate. Others limit how many photos they provide for each hour of coverage. Istanbul photographers may also offer packages that include physical copies of the images, such as prints or albums. Event rates normally include editing, so you receive finished, colour-corrected files rather than raw images.
Questions to Ask Before You Book
- How many edited images will we receive, and when?
- Is there a minimum booking, and what happens if the event runs late?
- Are travel, parking and taxes included in the quote?
- How will the images be delivered, and in which sizes?
- Can we use the photos for press and marketing without extra fees?
- Does the photographer speak the language of our guests and speakers?
