Prague is a city with a rich history and plenty of pre-wedding locations to choose from. The historic centre is compact, so a couple can walk between a medieval bridge, a Baroque square and a quiet park in a single session. If you are planning a pre-wedding photoshoot in Prague, here are some of the best locations to consider, followed by a few notes on timing and prices.

1. Charles Bridge
This historic stone bridge spans the Vltava River and offers views of Prague Castle and the city skyline. It is the most popular spot in the city for couple photos. It is beautiful at night, when the bridge is illuminated, but for photography the best time is sunrise: the light is soft, the statues are in silhouette and the bridge is almost empty. By mid-morning it is full of visitors.
2. Old Town Square
This is the heart of Prague and the perfect place to capture the city’s charm. The square is surrounded by colourful historic facades, the towers of the Týn Church and the Astronomical Clock, and it is a gathering spot for locals and tourists alike. The narrow side streets around the square are just as photogenic and much quieter.

3. Vyšehrad
The Vyšehrad fortress sits on a hilltop above the river, south of the centre, and offers panoramic views of the city. With its old walls, its church with twin spires and its park, it has a romantic and calm atmosphere, and it is far less crowded than the area around Prague Castle. It is a popular spot for weddings as well as pre-wedding photos.
4. Petřín Hill
This hilltop park offers sweeping views of Prague and is a great place to escape the bustle of the city. The park has gardens and orchards, which are especially lovely when the trees are in blossom in spring and when the leaves change colour in autumn. It works well for couples who prefer nature to architecture.

5. Jewish Quarter
The Jewish Quarter, Josefov, is one of the most historic areas of Prague and is full of character. It is home to several synagogues and the Old Jewish Cemetery, and its elegant streets make an interesting backdrop for photos. Remember that the synagogues and the cemetery are places of worship and remembrance; photos are best taken in the surrounding streets.
When to Shoot
- Time of day: early morning gives the best light and the fewest people at the famous locations. The hour before sunset is the second-best option, especially at the viewpoints.
- Season: spring brings blossom, summer has long days, autumn has warm colours and winter offers Christmas lights and, sometimes, snow.
- Route: two or three locations that are close to each other are better than five that are far apart. Less time in transport means more time for photos.
What Affects the Price
Prices for a pre-wedding session in Prague depend on a few things: the length of the session, the number of locations, the number of edited images delivered, whether you want a change of outfit, and extras such as hair and make-up, a rented dress or transport between locations. Ask your photographer for a quote based on your own plan, and confirm what is included before you book.
