Cappadocia gives children balloons, cave houses and rock shapes to love. It also brings very early mornings, sandy paths and steep drops at valley edges. Good family photos here depend on choosing a time and place that suit your children, so everyone is still smiling at the end.

We do not have our own team in Cappadocia. We check which photographers we work with there are free and reply by email, usually within two working days.

How it works

Three simple steps

1Share your dates and your children's agesTell us your dates, where you are staying, the children's ages and whether you want balloons or a later start.
2We suggest a photographerWe email you a photographer we work with who is available. Ask how long they suggest for your family.
3Keep it short and flexibleFit the session around naps and meals, with an easy location, a back-up morning and transport agreed.

Timing

When to plan it

Balloons mean a pre-dawn pickup. This often works better than expected: jet-lagged children are awake anyway, and photos are done before breakfast. Flights are run by licensed operators and cancelled when the weather is not right, so book the first morning and keep a back-up. Sunrise moves through the year; your photographer confirms the time.

Otherwise, the last hour before sunset gives warm light with less disruption. Avoid summer middays: hot, dusty and shadeless. Dawn on the plateau is cold even in July, so dress children in layers.

Good to know

  • Plan for a short session; with young children, quality matters more than the number of locations.
  • Bring water, snacks and a favourite toy, and something warm for the first half hour.
  • Wear sturdy shoes for everyone; the paths are sandy and uneven, and change into nicer shoes only for photos.
  • Hold hands near edges and viewpoints, and let the photographer choose spots with safe, flat ground.
  • Pick a simple colour palette for the family, such as soft neutrals with one stronger colour, and avoid busy patterns.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is Cappadocia suitable for a photoshoot with a baby or toddler?

Yes, with the right location. Spots near the road, like Devrent Valley, suit a carrier or pushchair.

How long should a family session be?

Shorter than you might think. Most families prefer one or two nearby spots rather than a long tour.

What if the balloons are cancelled on our morning?

Flights are sometimes cancelled or postponed. Agree in advance whether to move mornings or shoot the landscape alone.

Can we combine the photos with a balloon flight?

Flights are booked separately with licensed operators; sessions take place on the ground. Check age limits with the operator.

Do we have to commit when we send the form?

No. The request form is free and with no obligation; it simply lets us check who is available and reply by email.
