Many couples travel to Cappadocia for photos in wedding clothes: before the wedding, as an engagement session, or as a small elopement-style celebration for two. Long gowns and tailored suits stand out against the pale rock. The setting is also dusty, uneven and cold at dawn, which shapes how a good session is planned.

We are a guide to photographers, not a local studio. We check which photographers we work with in Cappadocia are available and reply by email, usually within two working days.

How it works

Three simple steps

1Describe the shoot you wantTell us your dates, the type of session and the outfits you plan to bring or rent, plus any must-have picture.
2Receive a photographer suggestionWe email you a photographer. Ask for full galleries, including a morning when balloons did not fly.
3Plan outfits, places and a back-upAgree locations, outfit changes, transport, props and delivery in writing, with a second morning in reserve.

When to plan it

Sunrise gives the chance of balloons, never the certainty. Flights are operated by licensed companies and go ahead only when wind and weather allow. Schedule the first morning of your stay and hold another in reserve. Sunrise varies widely across the year, so the pickup time is set once your date is fixed.

Sunset avoids the early start. Spring brings green valley floors and autumn yellow poplars. Winter snow is striking, but plan warm layers and short stretches outside in a gown.

Good to know

  • Choose a long, flowing dress or one in a strong colour; several local businesses rent gowns made for this kind of shoot.
  • Expect the hem to get dusty, and bring a cloth or brush to tidy it between spots.
  • Pack flat shoes and a warm coat to wear between frames, and change into formal shoes only for the photos.
  • Bring a simple steamer or plan time at the hotel to remove creases before you leave.
  • Drones need permission in Türkiye, so check before planning one into the shoot.

Questions

Frequently asked

Can we rent a dress in Cappadocia?

Yes, several local businesses rent long dresses. Ask whether fittings need booking ahead.

Can we combine the shoot with a horse or classic car?

They are often offered as extras. Ask who arranges them, and make sure animals are treated well.

Can we shoot at the Göreme Open-Air Museum?

It is a ticketed UNESCO site where professional photography generally needs official permission, so it is rarely included.

What if the weather is bad on our shoot morning?

Balloons may not fly, and in strong wind or rain the session itself may need to move. Agree rescheduling terms in writing and keep a back-up morning.

How do we get started?

Send the request form with your dates and the style of shoot. It is free and with no obligation, and we will reply by email with a photographer we work with in Cappadocia.
